I didn't really know Jo later on in life. We went to Primary school together. The funeral was nice, she had such an interesting life and lovely friends. I sort of knew the things that would be said, it didn't surprise me when the Goodies played tbh. Even though you don't know of people as grownup, as I child I knew she would have an interesting life, she was so determined and smart. I had no idea … Read more

Even though you don't know of people as grownup, as I child I knew she would have an interesting life, she was so determined and smart. I had no idea she loved Enid Blyton so much, looking back though I remember her telling me how she had read hundreds of her books I am sure of it, this would have been in Grade 2. I always thought if she was a character in those books she would be George from the Famous Five. I wasn't aware she had cancer until recently, I saw that a mutual friend had posted about this on fb, it is very sad. Wish I had better words to write.

In memory of an incredible, generous and delightful human. I am sure I’m one of many who have been gifted, through admiring Jo, with the inspiration to live with more passion, kindness, joy and authenticity. I am so glad our paths crossed again after Vet School. Xx

Dear Simon Thinking of you and the boys and am glad to see you have such a large and supportive group of friends to help you through. Jo's and my relationship was largely professional as you know but she had a significant impact on me personally as well. As my first PhD student she was something of a baptism by fire but I was also extremely fortunate to have her. She taught me a lot about myself and my own strengths and many weaknesses during that time, and she has … Read more
Dear Simon Thinking of you and the boys and am glad to see you have such a large and supportive group of friends to help you through. Jo's and my relationship was largely professional as you know but she had a significant impact on me personally as well. As my first PhD student she was something of a baptism by fire but I was also extremely fortunate to have her. She taught me a lot about myself and my own strengths and many weaknesses during that time, and she has continued to challenge me since- for the better. She has made me a better teacher and scientist and her strength and grace over the past couple of years have been a lesson in life. I think Jo always felt she hadn't done enough but she really did make a significant difference to the field and the people in it - hopefully she was convinced in the end of the value of what she had achieved there. I know you're probably not keen on receiving gifts but the road for you and the boys has been rough enough. I know this wont go a long way but I hope it helps. Jo will be missed around here often. All the best to you and the boys- I'll be thinking of you on the road ahead.

Thinking of you all, even though we have not met. I think I found Jo's blog through her sister (a fellow medical mum) when I was diagnosed with Br Ca last year. Jo's beautiful way of describing her experience was so helpful to me, so thankyou xx
